Solution:
Amount given by Raju = ₹ 50
Cost of the book = ₹ 35.65
Money returned
= ₹ 50 – ₹ 35.65
= ₹ 14.35
4. Rani had ₹ 18.50. She bought one ice-cream for ₹ 11.75. How much money does she have now?
Solution:
Initial amount = ₹ 18.50
Cost of ice-cream = ₹ 11.75
Remaining amount
= ₹ 18.50 – ₹ 11.75
= ₹ 6.75
5. Tina had 20 m 5 cm long cloth. She cuts 4 m 50 cm length of cloth from this for making a curtain. How much cloth is left with her?
Solution:
Original length of cloth = 20 m 5 cm = 20.05 m (5 cm = 0.05 m)
Length of cloth used = 4 m 50 cm = 4.50 m (50 cm = 0.50 m)
Remaining cloth
= 20.05 m – 4.50 m
= 15.55 m
6. Namita travels 20 km 50 m every day. Out of this she travels 10 km 200 m by bus and the rest by auto. How much distance does she travel by auto?
Solution:
Total distance travelled = 20 km 50 m = 20.050 km (50 m = 0.050 km)
Distance travelled by bus = 10 km 200 m = 10.200 km (200 m = 0.200 km)
Distance travelled by auto
= 20.050 km – 10.200 km
= 9.850 km
7. Aakash bought vegetables weighing 10 kg. Out of this, 3 kg 500 g is onions, 2 kg 75 g is tomatoes and the rest is potatoes. What is the weight of the potatoes?
Solution:
Total weight of vegetables = 10 kg
Weight of onions = 3 kg 500 g = 3.500 kg (500 g = 0.500 kg)
Weight of tomatoes = 2 kg 75 g = 2.075 kg (75 g = 0.075 kg)
Weight of potatoes
= 10 kg – (3.500 kg + 2.075 kg)
= 10 kg – 5.575 kg
= 4.425 kg

Remaining amount
= ₹ 45.60 – (₹ 29.85 + ₹ 10.30)
= ₹ 45.60 – ₹ 40.15
= ₹ 5.45
2. A rope is 15 m 65 cm long. If 5 m 10 cm of the rope is used, how much length of the rope is still available?
Solution:
Original length of rope = 15 m 65 cm = 15.65 m (65 cm = 0.65 m)
Length of rope used = 5 m 10 cm = 5.10 m (10 cm = 0.10 m)
Remaining length of rope
= 15.65 m – 5.10 m
= 10.55 m
3. Seema drives 12 km 40 m to her office and then 15 km 85 m to her friend’s house. What is the total distance covered by Seema?
Solution:
Distance to office = 12 km 40 m = 12.040 km (40 m = 0.040 km)
Distance to friend’s house = 15 km 85 m = 15.085 km (85 m = 0.085 km)
Total distance
= 12.040 km + 15.085 km
= 27.125 km
4. Anil bought a toy for ₹ 250.50 and a book for ₹ 120.75. How much did Anil spend in total?
Solution:
Cost of toy = ₹ 250.50
Cost of book = ₹ 120.75
Total amount spent
= ₹ 250.50 + ₹ 120.75
= ₹ 371.25
5. In a fruit shop, a box of oranges weighs 4 kg 250 g and a box of apples weighs 3 kg 800 g. What is the total weight of both boxes?
Solution:
Weight of oranges = 4 kg 250 g = 4.250 kg (250 g = 0.250 kg)
Weight of apples = 3 kg 800 g = 3.800 kg (800 g = 0.800 kg)
